HOME

Dear Race Fans,

Welcome to our newly redesigned website!  Knowing that you depend on our research and insight to revisit the magical period of time when the ‘Drome was such a huge part of your life, we’ve rebuilt our site to make it much easier to find and share resources.

In this 10th anniversary year of our founding, we continue to be inspired by the passion and dedication we see in contributors and followers, all working on behalf of the Speedrome Historical Society.

As part of our commitment to keeping our work easily accessible, we have created a more navigable website with additional resources, better tools, and a new visual design to support your work in the areas of historical information and photographs.  Stay tuned in the coming months for new resources in each of these areas.  We are also adding new email updates to help you keep up to date on the latest research and evaluation results and new policy and practice innovations.

With our completely redesigned site, you are now able to search our existing materials more easily –all the years of The Speedrome Historical Society; 150 biographies, presentations, stories,  and over 2500 photographs.   We will also be digitizing some of our video publications, because they remain in demand.

Reflecting our long-standing commitment to learning and continuous improvement, we welcome your feedback as we continue to improve this site.

Sincerely,
Patsy Ghysels, Founder & Director
Speedrome Historical Society

A friend wrote me and told me that Bill Mc Gowan passed away this morning. Bruce Vanderlaan drove for him and so did Jack Drolema. Bill raced his cars in ASA a lot back in the 80s. Bill always was on a shoestring budget and always reminded me of Dave Marcis in Nascar. His cars run up front a lot.

Patsy – as always you have out done yourself. Throughout the years I have told my children about the grandfather they never had the opportunity of knowing. These venues let them see his accomplishments as well as how much he was appreciated and liked in the racing world. I can never tell you how much you and Phil have meant to me and my family in keeping my father’s memory alive. I have it, but now so does the rest of my family. Love your efforts and keep it up.
